含水率と乾燥について (Moisture Content & Drying Information)
当社の木材は、主に枯れて倒れた木や、何年も森に放置されていた木から伐採されています。
乾燥してすぐに使えるものもあれば、まだ湿っていてさらに乾燥が必要なものもあります。
すべての木材が異なる含水率を持っており、すぐに使用できるかどうかは木材によって異なります。
しかし、ハワイアンコアは自宅や工房で簡単に乾燥できます！
簡単な乾燥方法:
- 木材の周囲に空気が流れるように配置する
- 小さな木材は、割り箸（平たいタイプ）を下と上に挟み、重りを乗せて乾燥させる
- 風通しの良い場所に置く
- 暖房のある室内で乾燥させるのも効果的
- ファンを使い、空気を循環させる
- 木材の動きを最小限に抑えるために、上から重しを乗せる
- 厚さ20～30mmの木材なら、湿気の少ない換気の良い環境で約2ヶ月ほどで使用可能になります
ハワイアンコアは、ウォールナットと同じように「乾燥しやすい木材」で、極端にひび割れたり歪んだりしにくいのが特徴です。
天然木製品に関するご注意
当社の木材は、ハワイの森林で自然に倒木した木や、
10〜20年以上森に放置されていたサルベージウッドを採取しています。
そのため、長期間の乾燥・湿度・風・雨・菌類・虫の活動など自然環境の影響により、
ひび割れ、虫食い、腐りや変色などが生じることがあります。

Our grading system was developed over 50+ years of supplying Hawaiian Koa and ensures consistent quality for buyers.
Many suppliers now use similar grading words and numbers, but grading criteria vary between sellers.
For example, a "4A" or "5A" grade from another supplier may be different from ours.
If you understand our grading system, you can trust that each grade is applied consistently in our listings.
Our Grading System:

Moisture Content & Drying Information
Our wood is harvested from salvaged trees that have mostly died, fallen over, and been sitting in the forest for many years.
Some logs are dry enough to use immediately, while others are still wet ("green") and require further drying.
Each wood listing may have a different moisture content and may/may not be ready for use without further drying.
Drying Hawaiian Koa is easy in a home or workshop. Some simple methods:
- Ensure airflow all around the wood.
- Use flat wood chopsticks under and over it to allow air circulation.
- Place in a well-ventilated or heated area to speed up drying.
- Use a fan to push air over it consistently.
- Weigh the wood down to reduce movement as it dries.
- For 20-30mm thick pieces, drying takes around 2 months in a ventilated, non-humid space.
Hawaiian Koa is an "easy to dry" wood, similar to walnut, and does not warp or crack excessively.
